Dr Polly Keep – Western Medical Acupuncture Practitioner

Polly is a highly experienced clinician who has worked within the NHS since 2006, including many years as a General Practitioner in the local area. Over the course of her medical career, Polly developed a deep understanding of the complexities of patient care, particularly in cases where conventional approaches offered limited solutions. This led her to pursue a new professional direction — one that blends her clinical expertise with a more integrative and person-centred model of care.

Polly now focuses on Western Medical Acupuncture, a modern, evidence-based adaptation of traditional acupuncture. Unlike Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is grounded in meridians and energy flow, Western Medical Acupuncture is rooted in anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience. It works by stimulating the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, producing changes in how the body processes pain, inflammation, and stress responses.

This approach has shown effectiveness in a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Chronic pain and musculoskeletal syndromes
  • Migraine and tension headaches
  • Stress and anxiety-related conditions
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Overactive bladder
  • Endometriosis and pelvic pain

Polly’s interest in ancient medical systems has long influenced her thinking, but it was her experience as a GP — listening to patients who often felt unheard or “stuck” in the conventional medical model — that ultimately drove her to retrain. Her aim is to offer safe, accessible, and holistic treatment options to those who may feel isolated, misunderstood, or underserved by standard medical approaches.

Polly brings a calm, thoughtful presence to her work, drawing on both her medical knowledge and patient-centred philosophy to create truly individualised care. She is passionate about helping people reconnect with their bodies and regain confidence in their health.
