What can you expect?
Sensitivity and confidentiality are a priority for us. Your first appointment will involve a thorough, confidential assessment to understand your symptoms, how they impact your daily life and what you would like to achieve from your time with us.
Your medical history will be screened to include bladder, bowel, obstetric and gynaecological history as well as your general health and medication history.
Physical examination depends on your symptoms. We may need to assess the spine and hips, lower limb strength and functional activities for example; squats, jumps, balance, bending, lifting. If we need to take a closer look at the pelvic floor muscle complex we will discuss an internal examination of the pelvic floor ( we are professionally trained to carry out both vaginal and anorectal examinations).
Internal examinations are extremely useful to inform an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. However they are NOT compulsory and are only performed with your explicit consent.
As part of your initial assessment, you will receive a bespoke digital summary of your assessment, diagnosis and treatment and management plan.
